Main Ingredients and Functions:

Whey Proteins  have a high intrinsic dietary value. In 2010, a panel from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) examined proposed health claims made for whey protein: satiety, weight loss, reduced body fat, increased muscle, increased strength, increased endurance, and faster recovery after exercise.

Whey protein provides essential amino acids and contains high concentrations of amino acids that promote muscle growth and development. Whey proteins and whey-derived peptides interact with various cells during digestion, promoting positive effects on body inflammation, muscle synthesis, colon health, cardiovascular health, body composition, and other physiological hydrolysis, thereby enhancing physiological benefits.

Digestive Enzymes:

Papain  is a proteolytic enzyme extracted from the raw fruit of the papaya plant. Proteolytic enzymes help break down proteins into smaller protein fragments called peptides and amino acids. Papain breaks down tough meat fibres which are why papain is a popular ingredient in meat tenderizers. Papain is also a popular folk remedy for reducing pain, inflammation, and swelling. It has also been used to improve digestion and to treat infections, diarrhea, and allergies.

Bromelain   is another type of proteolytic enzyme that specifically helps with digesting proteins and has been found to help the body absorb nutrients and even medicines more efficiently. Studies have shown that it reduces colonic inflammation and the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines that damage the gut lining. Because bromelain is very effective at healing tissues within the gastrointestinal tract, it is beneficial for people with GI problems.

Lipase   is a family of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of fats. Some lipases display a broad substrate scope, including esters of cholesterol, phospholipids, and fat-soluble vitamins. Lipase is an enzyme that breaks down triglycerides into free fatty acids and glycerol. Lipases are present in pancreatic secretions and are responsible for fat digestion. Understanding lipase is critical for understanding the pathophysiology of fat necrosis and has clinical significance for understanding acute and chronic pancreatitis. The role of lipase is also important in the mechanism of some cholesterol-lowering medications.

Amylase   is responsible for breaking down and processing carbohydrates into simple sugars that your body can utilize. Despite their bad reputation, carbohydrates are essential for health and energy production. Amylase works much faster than lipase (for digesting fat) and protease (for digesting protein). Like most things, the production of amylase slows down with age, which reduces the ability of the digestive system to properly absorb nutrients. It is therefore important to maintain healthy levels, and can easily be accomplished by taking digestive enzyme supplements.

Cellulase   is a class of enzymes. There are five main types of this enzyme class. These enzymes break down cellulose, a type of plant fibre, into simple sugars. This makes the plant available for consumption. Not only does this make the plant material available for the body to absorb, but there are also further health benefits, such as possibly helping to maintain optimal blood sugar levels and optimal cholesterol levels – Keeping blood cholesterol at desired levels.

Protease:   The protease family has a broader role than lipases and amylases, which break down fats and carbohydrates, respectively. It helps break down protein in food into amino acids, which the body can then use for energy. Not only is the protease directly responsible for activating these processes, it may also have some potential health benefits:

  1. Digestive support: Helps the body absorb essential amino acids, but by aiding the digestive process, protease can help people with indigestion symptoms such as loss of appetite, bloating, and abdominal discomfort.
  2. Muscle soreness: Athletes consider protein as a major part of their health regimen, and protease may also be a factor. In one study, the protease enzyme blend was more effective than a placebo in reducing post-workout muscle tenderness and soreness.

Recommended Storage Condition: Store in an airtight container, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use it if the security seal is broken.
